Already 10 years ago we put a special selection from the oldest vineyard sites of the DICKER FRANZ in our treasury to present it in 2021 after 10 years of maturation with the historic label of 1850 as "Anniversary Wine 770 Years Winery Burg Ravensburg", limited to 2000 bottles.

The soils of the DICKER FRANZ site are a mixture of gypsum-keuper, formed in the Triassic period about 250 to 210 million years ago. The weathered rock is poor, heat retentive and very calcareous, making it ideal for the production of full-bodied red wines.
The site owes its name to Baron Franz Göler von Ravensburg (1701 to 1765). He was very fond of culinary delights and went down in family annals as the "Fat Lord". Not only the former castle building at the keep, but also his favorite vineyard were named after him. GROSSE LAGE identifies wines from the best vineyard sites.

The year starts cold with lots of snow, followed by a sunny, warm April. With an explosive budbreak and early flowering, we started a dry, warm year with three weeks of vegetation ahead, perfect for Lemberger
Complex, deep aromas of blackberry and plum, pepper and earth. Animating with lively acidity and plenty of draw, grippy and compact with notes of clove and anise. The tannins are finely and harmoniously integrated. A picture-perfect DICKER FRANZ, ideal now and for a long time to come!
