The VDP.ERSTE LAGE® GÖTZEN is located about 15 km north of Sulzfeld above the village of Eichelberg. The name probably comes from a Roman idol or a Roman cult city that is said to have been located here in the vineyards. The site is only 0.6 hectares, the soil is red clayey marl stronger and heavier than the neighboring GROSSE LAGE KAPELLENBERG.
Muted, earthy yeasty spiciness. Taste of almond and bitter orange. Seems stony-slatey, very grippy, youthful and spicy.
With poached fish, white meats and vegetables.
