Founded on April 21, 2015, the Weisse Burgunder Charter is an association of 14 wineries from the two neighboring areas of Kraichgau and Badische Bergstrasse in the German wine-growing region of Baden.
Kraichgau and Badische Bergstrasse are the core region for Weisse Burgunder in Baden. The winemaking tradition in the region can be traced back to the 8th century: The Benedictine monastery of Lorsch (founded in 764) and the Cistercian monasteries of Maulbronn (founded in 1138) and Bad Herrenalb (founded in 1148) shaped viticulture in the Kraichgau and Bergstrasse regions and made the Burgundy grape varieties native here.
